Dot and Key Biphasic Alpha Arbutin and Azelaic acid radiance serum
As a part of my skincare secrets series, I really want to share another of my skincare secret. I recently got my hands on a bottle of the new Dot and Key Biphasic Alpha Arbutin and Azelaic acid radiance serum.
Unique serum
This serum is unique in the sense that it is biphasic i.e it has a blend of oil and water which stay as separate pink and white layers. Not only does it making it look gorgeous but it is claimed to work wonders as well. This serum is suitable for all skin types. But I think very oily skinned girls might be a bit put off at the thought of applying oil on the face. Its okay for me though.
Actives
The main actives are alpha arbutin, azelaic acid and niacinamide in the watery part and rosehip oil in the oil part.
What does Alpha Arbutin do to skin? Alpha Arbutin is an active which is hailed for its skin brightening, melanin inhibition and hyperpigmentation reduction properties. It is a brightener which lightens dark spots, fades acne scars and helps to even out the skin tone.
These actives in this serum has been derived from natural ingredients including mulberry, peony flower, aloe vera which makes thing even better.
Rosehip Oil is an all time favourite of mine which helps to reduce blemishes and improves the skin barrier.

How I Use this serum
I start with a clean and toned face. Then I shake the bottle well before use to mix the oil and the water. Then I apply 3 to 5 drops to my face and neck, and massage it well. Sometimes I use a jade roller or a gua sha tool. Then I apply aloe vera gel/ gel based moisturiser. And as a final step I top it off with a sunscreen during day and a sleeping mask at night. Initially I was apprehensive about day use, and was only applying the serum at night. But now my skin is used to it so I apply it when I feel like.
This serum blends seamlessly on my skin, is not heavy and helps in reducing pigmentation and blemishes. Overall it gives a glowey and well nourished look to the skin.
Its very important to apply sunscreen dilligently during the day, even if you are indoors.
I have been using this serum for nearly 3 weeks now and the good effects have started to show. Looking forward to discovering my clear, even and glowing skin with further use!
I have not broken out even once due to this serum for which this gets a double thumbs up from me!
