Beauty and K-Beauty

Why all this hype about beauty?

The first use of cosmetics derived from natural products to enhance beauty has been traced back to early Egypt by the historians. From an evolutionary point of view, beauty has had the key purpose of influencing reproductive natural selection. Human aesthetics dominated are by the external visible physical characteristics. How they are perceived by the observers brain are under quite a bit of pressure by natural selection processes (remember Darwin?) to optimize reproductive success. According to researcher Daniel B. Yarosh, “Key elements that go into the judgment are age and health, as well as symmetry, averageness, face and body proportions, facial color and texture. These elements are all Costly Signals of reproductive fitness because they are difficult to fake.” ( Source : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6523404/#!po=60.3448)

However these days, Instagram filters and apps makes this judgment pretty hard right? So now we have an idea about why we human have somewhat of an obsession with beauty. Now coming to K- Beauty.

K- Beauty

  • Why is K-Beauty so popular?
  • What does K-Beauty mean?
  • Does K-Beauty work on Indian Skin?
  • Where to buy Korean beauty products in India?
These are some of the questions that I will answer in a series of skincare posts throughout this month of #BlogchatterA2Z

Korean beauty skincare

The first Korean skincare product that I used nearly 5 years back was the Laneige lip sleep mask. When I had bought it, I had no idea that it was a Korean product. But gradually my interest in clean and honest skincare grew as I struggled with my on and off bouts of stress related acne.
I will give my tips and tricks and reviews of a few of my favorite K-beauty skincare products. This will include face cleanser, toners, waters and essences, serums, emulsion, lotion and creams. I have already written extensively about sunscreens that have worked really well for me in my past blog posts.

My favourite #kbeautyskincare serum

One of my favourite #kbeautyskincare serum is the @snp_global Peptaronic Serum. It does wonders for my super sensitive skin. Prolonged exposure to sun and dust by virtue of being a geologist often damages my skin barrier. This serum is a relief.
This is my second purchase and I will definitely recommend it for anyone who wants plump, hydrated and glowing skin ❤️.
This serum has 6 types of peptides and 5 types of hyaluronic acids to moisturize and revitalize the skin. Its a 10/10 serum for me.

Peptides in Beauty skincare

Peptides are basically amino acids that are the building blocks of collagen and elastin that give our skin the plump and bouncy look. They help ro repair the skin barrier, reduce appearance of wrinkles, improves skin elasticity, reduces inflammations and thus acne breakouts.
Peptides can sink into our skin layers and signal our skin to increase collagen and elastin production. So its best to use peptides in skin products like serums and moisturisers that have prolonged contact rather than in cleansers.

Some of the skincare products with peptides that I love are:

  • SNP peptaronic serum
  • Formula RX Barrier plus cream with peptides and ceramides
  • Olay collagen peptide serum
  • Olay collagen peptide moisturising cream
  • Klairs Midnight Blue Calming cream
