Book Cover

Healthy Indian Breakfast ideas are always a challenge. I am a certified zombie in the morning. So coming up with new and innovative breakfast ideas for the household is a daily duel.

Most nights, the last thing I mumble before falling into the vast chasm of sleep is “ What will you have for breakfast”, directed at the husband. This is mainly because coming up with breakfast ideas which he will have without any complaints is a dispute that I am always settling. So most of the time I through the ball in his court! But alas! Often it is yours truly who has to come up with exciting breakfast option to keep everybody happy. Oats and cereal , my once upon a time breakfast favorite, just do not make the cut these days.

So this book “Healthy Indian Breakfast Recipes” by Kalyan Subbarao in Blogchatters Ebook library,2021 seemed like a gift for me!

Book Content

This book has a collection of around 20 recipes ranging from common favorites to some uncommon new finds. Some of the quintessential breakfast favorites include alu paratha, muli paratha, idli, poha, besan chilla. But other than these there are some very unique recipes that have intrigued me. Palak thalipeeth, instant palak dosa, moong dal dosa, dibba roti, akki roti are some of the few I am going to try out for our breakfast soon.

The Highlights

The author has given very detailed instructions for all the recipes together with serving s
suggestions.
The photos are mouthwatering and very tempting. The format of the recipes are easy to follow as they are in index card format. The best part about this recipe book is that most of the ingredients used are commonly available kitchen ingredients. No fancy and expensive ingredients make the recipes seem do- able. So thumbs up for that.

High Health Quotient

Also most of the recipes are high on health and nutrient quotient. Most of the recipes include a variety of pulses in some form or the other which adds to the protein intake in breakfast itself. These days plant proteins are gaining a good name in the health game. The inclusion of vegetables add to the fiber content and prebiotics content of these recipes. Idlis as we all know are a wonderful source of the magical probiotics which work wonders for our gut health. These recipes thus ranks high in the nutritional aspect.

What could be better?

I would have personally loved the idli batter recipe as I am always struggling with the exact ratio. A few minor glitches like mixup beween banana leaf and foil inn the palak thalipeeth recipe, but it’s a blink and you miss it kind of error. Also a few sweet varieties of breakfast ideas could have been included. From the author bio I got to That the author makes magic while cooking continental dishe . So in the next edition maybe could be about continental recipes.

Here one of my recipes of savoury breakfast muffins as a free gift with this review!
