Phuchka love

Phuchka

Samosa, biryani, phuchka are some of my most favourite food items. Relocating to Shillong from Kolkata owing to profession had created a hiatus so far in terms of these yummy food stuff. Whereas Shillong has its own unique charm, and has unparalleled natural beauty, it is nowhere near when it comes to food of Kolkata.

Beautiful Shillong

I miss Kolkata more for its food. But, but, .. pause and drumroll.. I located a cool place for samosa in Shillong! Lol!! Its a Rajasthan based sweet shop. Good quality biryani and golgappa are still far fetched dream here, although some stop gap varieties are available.

Recently I suffered from viral hepatitis. It was a bad phase. That meant I have to be extra cautious about what I eat. The thought that i wont be able to eat samosa, golgappa, chaat for a long time led me to a terrible FOMO!! I discussed it with my wife. She could feel my pain. He he he.

Finally, after the blood report was returning to normalcy, we thought of trying it homemade, everything from scratch. I loved the idea. But was not sure how it would turn up. I have realised one thing during covid lockdown. We can prepare almost any dish which we love eating outside, right at home. Only, we have to be enthusiastic enough in trying. We made it. And it was awesome. The phuchka water was a tamarind- coriander mix in mineral water(šŸ˜‚). Believe me, it was yumm!

I will share a few photographs.. how it turned up..

Fun fact:

The aloo- chana mix intended for the golgappa got surplus a bit, so we ended up having papri chat the next day which tasted even better.

  1. Just yummy. Your images are tempting. That shows that puchka has really come up nice, and I can feel that good taste. Why did I read it at night, I can’t go out to have it now and your image has aroused my desire to have it.

  2. The one we make from my roots in UP, is super delicious too and loved by all my friends…all chaat accompaniments are super delicious….could feel the taste – he he he!
