There once was a girl called Betty,
and she was known to be very chatty.
Betty was also amazingly pretty,
With a smile to make any heart skippy
Betty went through life making everyone happy,
Always cheerful and joyous never ever cranky.
One day someone was very mean to Betty,
Breaking her tender heart into pieces itsy bitsy.
Betty tried hard to get her smile back in a jiffy,
But alas something inside her grew very grey and gloomy.
Betty tried to fight it hard with her inner rainbow still glowy.
All she needed was hope and A reason to still be chatty.
Betty searched hard for her reason for being to again be happy,
Trying to Rekindle the inner fire and maybe find joy in a puppy?
Butterflies, rainbows, puppies and cute mewing kitties,
Betty found these to be a few things that still made her cheery.
Betty fought the dark clouds with all the positivity in her kitty,
Pushing back the sad thoughts at the memory of the inequity.
She had a lot of help from Margaret, Khalil, Marcus and Rumi.
They all rallied for Betty with their words so kind and balmy.
Betty grew stronger and regained her smile pretty,
She again returned to being cheery and happy.
But now she was careful with whom she chose to be chatty,
Because Betty now knew to protect her heart from gnats so pesky

Wow! I love how you have woven other poets into the poem. Great idea.
