A cake is a mood lifter. Whenever we have a tea cake in the fridge, evening tea time becomes something to look forward to. This zebra cake recipe is super fun and the result is very attractive. Both kids and adults enjoy the zebra like chocolate and vanilla stripes. It looks difficult to make but is surprisingly easy to execute. I made this particular zebra cake on Bakri Eid this year. A few friends came over for lunch and it was a small intimate affair.
We make it a point to give extra effort to make all our festivals special. We had to cross many a hurdles to get to this point, where we are together now. Neither of our families wanted us to be together, since our religions are different. In fact they actively opposed it . That played havoc with our minds and our relationship. We had to walk many a extra mile to reach the mental equilibrium that we have reached today. Even now, there are many triggers that strains us. That bring back the hurt, the pain and the struggle. So it is of supreme importance that we fulfill each others dreams and expectations.
Festivals are exceptionally sensitive times for us. We always try to find our happiness in each other and not expect anything much from the outside world. Because I have realised that it is only we who have the power to decide whether we will be at peace or not. That does not take much. We just have to be patient, kind and tolerant of each others values. That’s it! Everything else falls into place. We can achieve the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind and bask in the warm light of our love. Because “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”( Holy Bible)
So to celebrate our love and enjoy the festival of Eid, we enjoyed this Zebra cake with our friends.

We don’t eat cake in my household (or any other type of dessert) so I cannot relate. I hope that everyone enjoyed!
