B Vitamins in Skincare

B Vitamins in Skincare

My skincare journey has been a long and arduous one with lots of ups and downs. During the course of this journey I have learnt many new things about skincare. Amongst them, I was really impressed with the role of B vitamins in skincare!

My skin finally settled down after a long time and now I am trying to fade the spots and pigmentation with niacinamide serums.

The types of B vitamins

There are 8 B vitamins, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, and B12 which all have their own unique benefits for the skin. You can read more about them here

B vitamins that are most used in skincare

Of these 8 B vitamins in skincare, Vitamin B3 a.k.a Niacinamide and Vitamin B5 a.k.a Pantothenic acid are common in many products these days.

From my personal experience I can safely say that Niacinamide is suitable for oily and acne prone skin. It is a super hero product that has anti- inflammatory properties, reduces spots, minimalises hyperpigmentation, controls oils , protects against sun damage and strengthens the skin barrier.

Product Recommendation

In most of the K- beauty products that I have used,Niacinamide is an ubiquitous presence. I will share all of my K beauty favourites in my future posts.

Here I will share some of my favourite niacinamide serums that I have used recently.

  • One of my favourite serum is the Ordinary 10%Niacinamide and Zinc serum. It did its job really well. The best part is a friend got it for me from USA and I got it at a steal price of Rs 450/-.
  • Another serum that I am using currently is the Minimalist Nicinamide 5% and Hyaluronic acid 13 serum. It absorbs easily, is non sticky and helped reduce my dark spots over prolonged use.
B Vitamins in skincare

Overall I found Niacinamide to be a safe skincare product which did not irritate my sensitive skin. Don’t forget to do a patch test before using any new Niacinamide serum.

I am not a skincare professional and the information in this post is mainly from sites like healthline, wikipedia and other sources.I have personally bought and used the products mentioned here, liked them and wanted to share my finds.
