When It Rains…

When it Rains…the theme is green

Pretty wildflowers

When it rains all the plants and trees are happy. Seeing the plants happy makes me happy turn.
The rains seem to wash away all the year long dust and grime and bring an eye soothing freshness.

My Balcony Garden

All my balcony garden plants are healthy and happy. That is because they are being taken care of by my mother for a couple of weeks. That’s because Im a geologist by day and had to visit a village in Madhya Pradesh for some job. So who better to care for my plant babies other than their granny?

My pretty rose

Here in MP the Bundelkhand granitic terrain is green and beautiful. During the course of my work, the beauty of nature when it rains is awing me at every step.

Beautiful little colourful flowers nestled prettily between the cradle of rocks, stones and grass.

pretty little things

Hills and rocky mounds covered with smooth green carpets of rain drenched grass.

The air here feels much cleaner and lighter than in our cityscapes.

And I really have to make a special mention of the freshest and tastiest cucumbers I have had in a long time. After getting really tired after the strenuous hikes our treat was those juicy, watery cucumber slices sprinkled with tangy chaat masala.
Oh how that refreshes us!

Sesame

In this season I came across many crop fields. Out of all of them one crop amazed me in particular.
This is “Til” i.e sesame seeds.

Young white sesame seeds

I have eaten it so many times, used it very often in my dishes but this is the first time I saw it in its natural form. Both black and white sesame seeds are widely used in seasonal desserts in my husbands native place Assam. I always look forward to those goodies made by my mother in law.

I also saw fields full of crops of peanut, lentils, soya, maize and so on and on. Oh what enchantment these give the purely city bred girl with a penchant for all things green and beautiful!

I have never seen sesame seeds pods before. We take so much for granted, that I’ve never thought of what they’d look like fresh.
