What will be will be, The futures not ours to see…
The song Que sera sera by Doris Day is one of my favourite songs. And the meaning, what will be will be is a main philosophy of my life. Unfortunately there are certain situations and life experiences that make it extremely difficult to always keep a straight face.
Everything happens for a reason they say. The only problem is you cant always understand immediately what the reason is. It takes time for the actual reason to make its presence felt. In the mean while, you just have to buck up and walk the walk.
Throughout my life, I have often gone though certain situations, which even though challenging at first, have ultimately turned out to be the best for me. That was Que sera sera at work. I have chosen to opt out of certain opportunities in life, which in hind sight seem to be huge mistakes. For e.g. I got an opportunity for higher studies in Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT-Kgp) where I decided not to go. That very year, I got into my current job. That definitely was Que sera sera.
Breaking of the bowls
Recently, my maid Pinky broke 4 out of a set of 6 bowl. The bowl set was a wedding gift from a dear colleague. I was very sad that those bowls have broken. So I started to browse for ceramic bowls online. In a site called Exclusivelane, I came across the most beautiful blue pottery ceramic bowl set. This one was a set of 6 bowls too and had the prettiest Indigo chevron design. I bought the bowl set as I felt it was meant to be that I buy those bowls then and there. This is because in a weeks time, we were celebrating Eid at home. What better than beautiful blue pottery ceramic bowls to serve the sevaiyan? Luckily these bowls are both microwave and dishwasher save, so reheating foods in them is no trouble at all.
I hope no more of my crockery will be broken, as I have to bid adieu to Pinky soon. This is because by virtue of us being officers in all India services, we have recently been transferred in public interest to a new and beautiful city. So very soon, out nest will be relocated, and que sera sera…..
That song is my favourite too. It’s an extremely meaningful song. Wish you a good time in the new place to where you are moving.
Thank you Pradeep ☺️
