Paparazzi in my Garden

I spend a lot of time during the weekends, just pottering around and taking care of my plant babies. Sometimes I become a Paparazzi too.

Giving the rose plants a shower to wash away the pests, pruning of the dead leaves, digging up and fertilizing the soil are just a few of the activities that makes my weekend mornings very busy. One of the most rewarding moments for me as a plant parent is when I see my plants are green ,healthy and they look happy. The flowers that bloom are like an added bonus. The green leaves, the stems, the tendrils, all play an equally important contributors in our family happiness.

A Saturday morning

It was a normal Saturday morning. My husband was on an official tour and Maa was staying with me for the duration. We were having our morning tea at the breakfast table and admiring in the beauty of our balcony garden.

Suddenly I saw a wonderful sight. A beautiful spotted butterfly was fluttering from flower to flower. It was black in colour with yellow spots.

Paparazzi

Paparazzi Moment

I slowly opened my mobile camera and started to make a video of the beautiful guest. I practically had to follow the butterfly like paparazzi follow celwbrities. It was exhilerating.

The first visit…

Second Visit

Fast forward two weeks later. Again me and Maa were sitting at the breakfast table. Maa nudged me slowly and asked me to look at the garden. This time it was another beautiful fluttering guest. This butterfly was also black in colour but had a beautiful red and white pattern near the base of its wings.

I again turned on my paparazzi mode. I started to capture the video its rapid fluttering dance from flower to flower. Just as I was about to sit down after it flew away I was bowled over by what happened next. My spotted guest from two weeks back had returned again! Or maybe it was her cousin who had heard about my garden! My joy and exuberance knew no bounds. I felt so happy, contended and fortunate.

The second visit

The beauty of nature can bring utmost joy and peace. For me as a gardener and a plant parent, no compliment is greater than a butterfly visit( and a repeat visit too!) to my little balcony garden.
So on saturday mornings I become the ” Butterfly paparazzi” !
