Albert Einstein said “I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious”. This is such a meaningful quote. The moment we loose our curiosity, our whys and hows, that’s when we stop growing. To learn and create new things is the best way to succeed in any sphere of life. Science is the best teacher.
I personally am extremely curious about the science behind things. Figuring out the basic science of every day life events has been a favourite pastime since my teenage years.
Curiosity
I was enchanted by the concepts of science ranging from protons, neutrons, electrons, atoms, molecules to cells, mitochondria, nucleus, golgi bodies to photosynthesis and what not! Since then science has become a sort of invisible best friend for me.
Science helps to make sense of the universe to a large extent. The best part is, its like a never ending knowledge library. However much you know ,there is always more things that you don’t know!
Earth Science
I grew up to be an Earth Scientist a.k.a Geologist. Now I try to figure out the science behind rocks, meteorites, and the different earthly processes that make this planet habitable and resourceful!
Whenever I see any reference of Geology in movies or series, I am extremely delighted!
Ross was a Paleontologist in one of my all-time favorite series “Friends” which is the study earths geological history through the study of all-tim. All the characters would make fun of Ross for being a palaeontologist and till this day I have not been able to figure out why!
In the series “Young Sheldon”, Sheldon develops a sudden interest in Geology because he was interested in an older girl Libby. She was 17 and he was 9. She introduced Sheldon to the wonders of Geology, but as fate would have it, his interest was not reciprocated. Gradually Sheldon grew to hate Geology and that hatred continued in the Big Bang Theory.
I married a Geologist and we are colleagues. We met during a six month training when I joined my job. We often find ourselves discussing rock types during our mountain vacations. However, whatever it may be, Geology ROCKS!
Some Geology jokes
- What did the volcano say to his wife? I lava you!
- What did the gold say to the pyrite? You’re a fool and a fake
- What do you get when you mix sulfur, tungsten and silver? Swag.
- What did the metamorphic rock say during the test? This is just too much pressure!
- Why should you not lend geologists money? They consider a million years ago to be Recent.

I’m participating in #BlogchatterA2Z and this is the I post.
Hahaha! The jokes are funny, esp. the last one.
I agree with you – however much you know, there is so much still unknown. Its good to be passionate about your work and that you discuss it even on vacations! Lovely post.
Thanks for your kind words
