Double cleansing in Japan
Double cleansing is a method of skin cleansing that originated in Japan and Korea. The Japanese geishas known by their delicate beauty were famous for their cakey white oil based makeup with brilliant red lips. They discovered that the sticky makeup came off better after rubbing their faces with camellia oil followed by soap or a foaming cleanser. This is the basic concept behind double cleansing.

My Product Recommendations for Double Cleansing
My Product Recommendations for Double Cleansing
- Innisfree Super Volcanic pore cleansing . Iam using this K- beauty cleansing oil and it gets a total of 5 stars from me. The ingredients include jojoba oil, sunflower oil, lactic acid(a gentle AHA), volcanic ash which helps in pore refining. It removes all the makeup, sebum and oil from my face with ease leaving my skin soft and glowing. It’s a bit pricey at Rs 1500/- for 150 ml but it lasts for a very long time. I bought it in November last year and am still using it. So its overall a value for money cleansing oil that does the job it promises to do.
- Clinique Take the day off Cleansing Balm. I have used this waxy and smooth cleansing balm by Clinique a couple of years back and it worked greatly. The only downside like all other Clinique products is the price tag.Rs. 1100 for 30 ml which is difficult to sustain over a long period.
- Forest Essential Sandalwood and orange peel face wash. A gel based sulphate free face wash by the luxe brand which smells like heaven and works like magic. A pea sized amount works up a good lather and the smell is heavenly. The ingredients include tender coconut water, sandalwood, orange peel, bamboo shoot extract and other skincare goodies. It’s a family favourite although a bit pricey. But 200 ml at around Rs 1200 lasts us for around 3 months so its worth the money.
- The Plant Base AC clear Magic Foaming face wash. It is a K- beauty foaming face wash that I use alternately with the Forest Essential cleanser. Even though it’s a foaming facewash it does not dry the skin at all. It has centella asiatica( cica) mulberry extract, licorice and other soothing ingredients which works magic on irritated or inflamed skin. Priced at around Rs 800/- for 120 ml it lasts for a long time. I bought it in October last year and am still using it.

Double cleansing is good. But I only do it if I went out of the house. It’s to wash make-up and sunblock from my face.
Double cleansing sounds like what I do after a pasty. But now I will try it after a long day too.Great tips
