DIY Tan Removal Tips

I am a geologist by profession. That involves a lot ( I mean really a lot) of sun exposure. That is a real bummer for the skin. Weeks and weeks of fieldwork in the hot sun to work out the inner mysteries of the earth does its bit for the poor skin. And by the end of it I turn into a really brown and tanned acorn! This is where DIY tan removal comes to the rescue!

Then begins the seemingly hopeless task of trying to reduce the tan to some extent so that I don’t cringe every time I catch a glimpse of myself in any reflective surface!

Simple kitchen ingredients can work wonders you know. They are so easily available, inexpensive and effective.

I will share here some of the DIY tips that have really helped me a lot.

Tomato juice and honey

Just grate or mash a fresh ripe tomato. Mix a little bit of honey. You can use both the pulp and juice or the juice only. Apply on clean face and keep for 15 to 20 minutes. This helps to reduce the tan and make the skin glow.

Lemon Juice and Honey

Take some freshly squeezed lemon juice and mix some honey. Apply on clean face and keep for 10 minutes. You will see instant difference as lemon juice is a potent tan remover. Honey also makes the skin soft and supple.

Yoghurt, Besan and Honey

Mix 1 tbsp of yoghurt/curd with ½ tsp of besan and 1/4tsp honey. Apply paste to face and keep till dry. Youghurt helps to remove tan very effectively.

Potato Juice and Honey

Grate a peeled potato. Extract the juice and mix with 1/4tsp honey. Apply on cleansed face and keep till dry. The potato juice helps to remove tan, pigmentation and lighten dark spots. It really works!

These are a few of my tried and tested diy tan removal tips and face packs which have personally helped me a lot. I have very sensitive skin and I am wary of trying new things on my skin. These work great for me. It is important to carry out a patch test before applying any face pack on the skin. Do make sure to do so.
