When it Rains…the theme is green
When it rains all the plants and trees are happy. Seeing the plants happy makes me happy turn.
The rains seem to wash away all the year long dust and grime and bring an eye soothing freshness.
All my balcony garden plants are healthy and happy. That is because they are being taken care of by my mother for a couple of weeks. That’s because Im a geologist by day and had to visit a village in Madhya Pradesh for some job. So who better to care for my plant babies other than their granny?
Here in MP the Bundelkhand granitic terrain is green and beautiful. During the course of my work, the beauty of nature when it rains is awing me at every step.
Beautiful little colourful flowers nestled prettily between the cradle of rocks, stones and grass.
Hills and rocky mounds covered with smooth green carpets of rain drenched grass.
The air here feels much cleaner and lighter than in our cityscapes.
And I really have to make a special mention of the freshest and tastiest cucumbers I have had in a long time. After getting really tired after the strenuous hikes our treat was those juicy, watery cucumber slices sprinkled with tangy chaat masala.
Oh how that refreshes us!
Sesame
In this season I came across many crop fields. Out of all of them one crop amazed me in particular.
This is “Til” i.e sesame seeds.
I have eaten it so many times, used it very often in my dishes but this is the first time I saw it in its natural form. Both black and white sesame seeds are widely used in seasonal desserts in my husbands native place Assam. I always look forward to those goodies made by my mother in law.
I also saw fields full of crops of peanut, lentils, soya, maize and so on and on. Oh what enchantment these give the purely city bred girl with a penchant for all things green and beautiful!

I had never seen a sesame pod before. Fascinating. Your balcony garden is so beautiful. The rose looks so pretty. It has such a rich red color.
Though we get to enjoy those tiny whiny moments of fresh and light air in the city right after the rain, nothing can beat the environment one gets to experience in villages or hill top areas.
Thank you Suha.
Thank you. glad that you liked it.
I have never seen a Til field or plant as such. Fascinating.
A day is made when you learn something new, is the age old saying. Today after reading your post I must say, my day is made. Reason? Sesame field! Have never ever come across sesame fields till I read about them here on your blog.

Such beautiful photographs!! I do love how fresh and green nature and plants look when it rains!
I loved your natural photographs. They are so fresh. Rains wash away all the dirt from nature and make everything sparkle as new.
Only if it could clean our hearts of negativity also the same way.
Such a beautiful post. Having lived in the north-east for a few years where it rained more than half the year, there was always greenery abound. Miss that in the cities. Thanks for sharing about the sesame plant too. Seeing the pod for the first time.
Such a beautiful post! So green and fresh! Just seeing the pics made me so happy!
This is the first time I’m seeing sesame in its natural form too. Your flowers are looking so beautiful. I’m sure they’ll be much loved, cared for and pampered by their gran. Loved the pictures of the countryside. Rains are a much awaited relief after the hot summer!
your pictures are refreshing for the heart:)
What an interesting profession you have, Ginia. I loved the plant Granny bit!
I have never seen sesame seeds pods before. We take so much for granted, that I’ve never thought of what they’d look like fresh.
So true. We take a lot of things for granted. These tours of mine helps to bring a lot of thing in perspective.
Thank you Corinne. My profession is truly very exciting..Thanks for reading.
Loved your pictures and you have a cool job. To be honest, I did not know that sesame in that pod and that’s how it looks in its natural form. Thank you for joining #WordsMatter. A pleasure to have you around. The form is open for October edition. Please join if you can 🙂
Thank you Parul. Could not join the October one but will definitely try for the next one.
Hi Ginia. Loved the pictures, especially of that lovely Frangipani in your garden, and the sesame seeds. I’ve never seen them in the pod, before.
