Ever since OTTs have made their entry into the entertainment business, its more of a headache to choose what to watch. We end up wasting more time in choosing what to watch rather than actually watching it. This, added with contrasting choices in viewing have limited the no. of series/ movies we watch together. Now a days, we hardly get time to binge. However we never say no to The Big Bang Theory. Also, not very far in the past, the binge’ing was till late night, even night-out till dawn especially on weekends. But, it takes a negative toll on health.. we have understood that. So, no more binging late nights. Last time the ‘mega binge’ phase was during THE March 2020 to September 2020. Even, 1 hr *16 episodes long korean series used to get over in 2-3 days.
In all these fiasco, there is one sitcom series( now in OTT) who is like a saviour of the situation. It gives immense joy and fun to us and also brings us to a common ‘never say no’ platform. The name of the series is ‘the BIG BANG THEORY’. Why is Big Bang Theory famous? Well currently, we are watching it for the third time. We know all the stories, when we rewatch it. But it still feels enjoyable. We did got gem of a find at times though. eg. Searching, Crash Landing on You, Squid Game, Money Heist, Black Mirror, etc. to name a few.
The only negative aspect?
Racial remarks ( in humour) against their Indian friend ‘Raj Koothrapalli’ in most of the episodes! In the whole series, they make fun of everyone, but as individuals due to their personality. But, in case of their Indian friend, its almost always starts as a racial slur. I realized while I was re-watching it for the third time. Also, only Raj stayed single. Some thought should have been given to this character as well, since at the end, all the friends got settled in life, why not Raj? Anyway, its my personal opinon.
Things I like about “The Big bang Theory”(the series)!
- Mood lifter- Whether we are happy, sad, tensed, angry, tired, stressed, frustrated one episode of this cheers us up! 100% result. We literally start laughing. It has actually sorted many of our unpleasant/dull moments. Its like when anyone of us is feeling down the weather both physically and mentally we say “Lets watch Big Bang”. And the other one immediately is game for it. Also, after every futile search for what to see, it goes like “lets start an episode of Big Bang and then think over what to watch next!!” LOL. IT helps bond over spending quality time with family during leisure. Both of us love it.
- Short Episodes, well made, crisp and independent of the previous episodes (mostly). Even if you start a random episode say S3: EP-7, it will still be enjoyable.
- Informative: BBT is quite informative, nerdy, and the dialogues are carefully curated based on real scientific facts and other relevant events. A good combo of fun and knowledge.
My Favourite
Everyone did a brilliant job. But my favourite has to be Sheldon. The more we watch it, more I find sense to what Sheldon says, although highly annoying most of the time. Sometimes I feel i could sit over the Sheldon’s spot. I personally like the flow of Howard’s performance as well. Leonard’s role is vital. He is evergreen and holds all the characters together. Raj’s character is funny at times. Penny is chirpy, cute and blends well in the series. The add-on characters are great too. Bernadette and Amy joins in the later part of the series. They did a nice job. The location set up is great. Love their comic book/Comicon craze.
I can go on and on about this series. But, I choose to stop here and give you all a chance to watch for yourself whoever did not watched it yet. Anyone who is into science a bit is bound to love this series. And for those who watched this can please share your views about this series in the comment section. Once I saw the title ‘The Big Bang Theory’ I tuned into this blog. Many say friends is the best all time sit com, I really really love that series as well. But this sit com is something else. Especially Shedon’s kocking door Penny…. Penny…. Penny…. Gald found someone who loves the same series just like me.
