Skin Care Secret 4: Power of Vitamin C

Vitamin C or Ascorbic acid is a wonder ingredient when it comes to skincare. When taken as an oral supplement, it has great health benefits. Also for the skin it can be called a super hero ingredient.
Vitamin C has antioxidant properties. It limits damage due to UV rays from sun exposure. It helps in wound healing, collagen synthesis, skin inflammation and what not!

I have always been on the search for Vitamin C serums that work. Since I am a geologist by profession, I get a considerable amount of sun exposure which plays havoc with my sensitive skin. So i make sure to include a good amount of Vitamin C products in my skin care regime.
I will list a few of the tried and tested Vitamin C products that have worked for me.

  1. Innisfree Brightening Pore Skin toner, serum, pore priming cream and night sleeping mask. The entire range works as promised. It brightens the skin, minimizes pore appearance, hydrates and most importantly did not break me out.
10/10 for this Vitamin C range even though its a bit pricey, but still worth it!!
  2. Minimalist Vitamin C 10% +Acetyl Glucosamine 1%
Is another great Vitamin C serum which I have bought and finished twice. Its a 8/10 for this one.
  3. Minimalist Rosehip oil + VC-IP 3% is an oil based serum with an oil soluble version of vitamin C which I usually apply at night as the last step of my skin care. It brightens, makes the skin super soft and you can see the effect the next morning itself! Its a 8.5/10 for this one. Its affordable i.e below Rs 1000 range.
  4. Dot and Key Glow Revealing Vitamin C Serum Concentrate is one more gem of a serum from this brand. I have bought and finished one of bottle already. Recently I was gifted two bottles, one regular size and one travel size. It’s a light weight, quick absorbing serum which also contains hyaluronic acid. Plumpens the skin almost instantly. Its a 8/10 for this one and its affordable pricing is an added bonus.
  5. Dear Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin drops is a cult favorite amongst skincare enthusiasts and is the newest player in my skin game. This is also an oil based serum, and the jury is still out on my judgement. I want to love it but I am taking some time to give my verdict. Will update soon about this serum.
  6. Clinique Fresh Pressed 7-Day System with Pure Vitamin C is a bit on the pricier end. But its really good and does the work it promises to do. Only problem is the price. So its a 8/10 for this one.

If you want to buy the Dot and Key serum, you can get a discount on their website by using the code GINIA 10.

Disclaimer: I am an affiliate for Dot and Key but this is a 100% honest review. Being very sensitive about skin, I know how important skincare us to us oily skinned girls. All of these products have worked well for me. Never forget to do a patch test before applying any new skincare product.
