It’s the season for purple beauties, Jacaranda flowers everywhere here in Shillong 💜💜. Meghalaya and Shillong in particular is a flower lovers heaven. The trees here are colour codes month wise. Every month I am mesmerized by the parade of colours that the magnificent trees of this quaint Northeast state display.
April flowers Jacaranda
From mid April it’s the turn of the purple beauties Jacaranda flowers. On our drive from Guwahati to Shillong, near Umiam lake the Jacaranda trees start displaying their full royal purple splendour. In the tiny city of Shillong, every where you look in April, you will be greeted with the vision of purple flowers.
Topsy turvy
In Shillong, I try to find joy in the ample natural beauty that surrounds us. Going from point A to point B and getting anything done in Shillong is an uphill task. And I mean that literally! So when we are stuck in traffic in the narrow winding topsy turvy lanes of Shillong, I gaze at the trees and flowers. They help to bring the irritation under control and stay positive.
Hubby does all the major hard work as he drives the car in this terrain! He deserves a standing ovation for his exemplary patience while navigating. So to entertain him, I try to keep him updated about the visual flowery joys with a running commentary followed by documenting about them either by photo/video.
Now the Jacaranda season is back again.
I eagerly look forward to the mesmerizing purple blooms as I step into our third year in Shillong with hope and love in my heart.
