Blog Hop July 25…

My Favourite Book of 2022 so far is The Good Sister by Sally Hepworth

The Good Sister by Sally Hepworth

Sally Hepworth’s books are my best book discovery in 2022. Amongst them, The Good Sister was the first and it was an absolutely unputdownable book.
Its a more-ish novel about the lies that bind two sisters .

What kind of books does Sally Hepworth write?

Genre wise the Good Sister and the other of her books, belong to the Lianne Moriarty( Big Little Lies fame) genre and is packed with a good amount of twists and turns.

Book Blurb of The Good Sister

Fern Castle works in her local library. She has dinner with her twin sister Rose three nights a week. And she avoids crowds, bright lights and loud noises as much as possible. Fern has a carefully structured life and disrupting her routine can be…dangerous.
When Rose discovers that she cannot get pregnant, Fern sees her chance to pay her sister back for everything Rose has done for her. Fern can have a baby for Rose. She just needs to find a father. Simple.
Fern’s mission will shake the foundations of the life she has carefully built for herself and stir up dark secrets from the past, in this quirky, rich and shocking story of what families keep hidden.

My take on the plot: Book Review of The Good Sister by Sally Hepworth

The author had constructed the characters of both the sisters character, Rose and Fern, with attention to very minute details. This has made the read extremely wholesome. The writing style and storyline is like water. It flows smoothly and makes you want to drink it. The twists and turns throughout with a superbly enjoyable twist at the end made this read totally worthwhile.

USP of the book

Other than a very natural storytelling about sister dynamics, this book has very empathetically touched on the topic of mental health. Though a tad bit sensationalized but that somehow went along well with the plot.

What I liked?

I loved everything about the book. I have to be honest though that I was attracted toward this book by its name. My sister and I have a deep and loving relationship which has seen its fair share of ups and downs. So the moment I read that the book is about sisters and their dynamics, I had to read it. If I had to choose between the two characters, I would choose Fern as she is somehow more relatable for me.
