Clean Eating

Clean eating is the first step towards a healthier lifestyle. To say that is not always easy to be focussed on eathing healthy food is actually a huge understatement!

Working throughout the day, being super busy, multi tasking, home management, all of it takes quite a toll on the healthy eating part.

When I am too busy to even breathe it seems, I often feel like gobbling down a bar of chocolate or munching on snacks like namkeens and biscuits.

But recently a friend and a colleague had a huge health scare which woke me up! She woke up at night with severe stomach pain and was admitted to the hospital . After an emergency operation her entire gall bladder togther with as many as more than 300 gall stones were removed. She was totally unaware of their existence before that day ,other than some mild and common digestive issues. We saw the photograph of the poor little dilapidated gall bladder and it was not a pretty picture!

That incident really shook me up! It now made me even more committed towards eating clean and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

I now try to curb all binging urges by keeping ready healthy snacks like dry fruits, roasted snacks and fruits at office.

Including a portion of protein in all my meals beginning from breakfast helps to keep me full for longer.
Water is my best friend and have 3 to 4 litres every day.(basically I have turned into a fish!)

My dinner is usually very light. It will either be a colourful salad or a flavoured raita.

Rajma Salad

One of my favourite dinner salad is this supper easy kidney bean(rajma) salad. Its so very easy to put together and the only preparation needed is you have to pre-soak and boil the rajma.

Just grate carrots and cucumbers. Chop the tomatoes and onions (optional). Mix all the veggies and boiled rajma, add a sprinkle of lemon juice, rock salt, black pepper and fresh cilantro. And your super yummy rajma salad is ready.Thats how easy it is 😊.

The kidney beans give the much required protein kick to this salad as well as giving the feeling of satiety!
You can add any other salad vegetables of your choice to this salad.

So my clean eating journey continues as I come up with new salad and raita combinations to satisfy my taste buds!
