Cherry Blossoms and 5 minute walks

Cherry Blossoms

Short 5 to 15 minute walks have become an integral part of my life in the past six months. Since I spend most of the day in the office sitting, the short walks are a savior. I must admit that I am blessed with a very beautiful office campus in the scenic city of Shillong in Meghalaya. Our office is located on top of a small hill from which there is a picturesque city view. It has a beautiful landscapes garden with beautiful pine and other seasonal trees. Amongst these trees a few are a bit extra special. They are the Cherry Blossoms trees that bloom on Shillong in the month of November.

These days whenever, I go for a walk I am greeted with an eye soothing view. The view of fairy tale perfect Cherry Blossom trees in their full splendor! Yes that’s right! You heard that right. I get to see Cherry Blossom trees in their full bloom daily on my walks. Not only that. I get to see them peeping from the kitchen window as well as the balcony. Shillong is straight out of a dream or a fairytale right for nature lovers😍 during this time of the year.

The play of baby pink and peach colours of the Cherry Blossoms, everywhere I look leaves me mesmerised, a kaleidoscope of pastel shades. I am constantly swooning at the sheer beauty that is Shillong.Another thing that catches my eye during my walks, is the beautiful cerulean blue sky with fluffy white clouds. As if someone took out a paint brush and painted the scene.

To this picture perfect scene, add in butterflies. Th site of delicate, multi colour butterflies fluttering amongst the blossoms makes me catch my breath.

So, you can understand my five minute walks are pretty soothing for the eyes as well as the soul…
