I have always wanted to make “Chanar Jilipi” a.k.a “chenna jalebi” ever since I saw an aunt
make it for us at her place nearly 15 years back.
It is basically a passion project which I finally executed a few days back.

It’s a super easy recipe which took me hardly an hour to make!
Chanar Jilipi basically translates to “ Chana” meaning “ cottage cheese” and “ jilipi”
meaning “ jalebi” a spiral sweet treat which is a favourite throughout India.
Now mainly two ingredients in Chanar Jilipi needs to be of superior quality to get the
yummiest sweet. One is home made chaana/ chenna/cottage cheese and the second is very good quality desi ghee.
For the chaana I used Amul Taaza milk and for the ghee I used Canistel A2 Desi Sahiwal
Cow Ghee.
Superhero Ingredient Canistel’s Sahiwal A2 Cow Ghee
Canistel ghee is traditional Bilona Churned – 100% Natural. Canistel’s Sahiwal A2 Cow Ghee is a pure, premium clarified butter made exclusively from the nutrient-rich milk of indigenous Sahiwal cows, renowned for their superior quality. Made using the traditional Bilona churned method, this organic cow ghee has a golden hue, rich aroma, and deep, authentic flavour. Every batch of A2 desi sahiwal cow ghee is carefully prepared to preserve the
natural benefits of A2 milk, which makes it a wholesome choice for both everyday cooking
and Ayurvedic wellness.Ideal for those seeking desi cow ghee, this product brings the essence of traditional organic cow ghee straight to your kitchen.

I have often noticed that sweets that need to be fried turn out to be extra tasty and moreish
if you use desi cow ghee.
Even if I say so myself, we were not at all disappointed with the way the Chanar jilipi turned out!
Canistel Yellow Mustard Oil
Now only making a sweet dish will not do. We needed a main course for our dinner too. So
Hubby decided to make a quick desi style chicken curry. We usually use organic mustard
oil oil or olive oil in our recipes. For the chicken we used Canistel Wood Pressed Yellow
Mustard Oil for the extra flavour. This mustard oil is very fragrant with just the right amount
of punch required for Indian cooking.

It’s a wood pressed yellow mustard oil which is apremium, high-quality oil known for its rich flavour and nutritional benefits.Pure mustard oil has a distinct pungency that makes it a staple in Indian kitchens. Whether it is used for sautéing, frying, or adding to your favourite dishes, Canistel’s yellow mustard oil isn’t just the best mustard oil for cooking — it is a health-conscious choice that is packed with antioxidants, essential fatty acids and nutrients. It’s the perfect oil for our traditional Bengali dishes like ilish bhapa, or shorshe pabde which require the extra pungency of mustard oil. We even drizzle Mustard oil as a flavouring at the end of the cooking process for the delicious aroma. I will add the chicken curry recipe in a later blog but am giving you a sneak peak into whats coming up in the picture below.
